Singing Stars
If you somehow managed to buy a ticket to space on a spaceship and were lucky enough to find a fast enough ship that could take you into deep space, what do you think you’d see? What might you hear? What would it feel like?
What if (although modern scientists haven’t figured out a way to do this yet) you were able to take off your space helmet and listen and feel and see without shading your view and blocking your ears? Can you even imagine what that would be like?
If you asked me that question, I would have said “Nothing! It is a vacuum, after all. And what out there could possibly be making noise?” But I would have been wrong. Because guess what? Stars make sound! Scientists say they “sing”...but satellites have actually caught their low vibrations and recorded it so we can hear it, too. The sound is different depending on how large (or heavy) the star is. So now...what would you hear in space with your helmet off? What would your answer be? A symphony? A rock band? A choir? What I love most about this discovery is that the only being “out there” in space to hear the stars is…you guessed it, God. He created a universe of billions of stars that sing solely for His glory and enjoyment. And when those stars sing...they are doing exactly what they were created to do. I bet God smiles when he hears those stars praising Him.
Do you know what else makes God smile? Wildflowers that bloom on the highest peaks of mountains in areas where no humans visit. Those flowers raise their hands to heaven and in their beauty, glorify our Good Creator. Fish that swim in the deepest part of the ocean also bring glory to God because they do what they were created to do--swim and eat in parts of the deepest oceans. Birds even make God smile! They fly in the sky and soar over hills and valleys and mountains and prairies, all the while praising their Creator just because they are doing what they were created to do. Guess what else makes God happy? You! He made you to know Him and love Him and enjoy Him. Because He knows and loves and enjoys you! When you do what God created you to do--laugh and love, sleep and eat, play and read, learn and grow--you’re doing exactly what He created you to do. This brings Him great pleasure and as you live well, walking beside Jesus, you praise Him and help others to see Him, too. Imagine: if He made the stars to sing His praises, how much more we can praise Him!
